Skillbuild NI Competitors won a record number of medals at UK Compeition
Skillbuild UK Competition 2010
The Skillbuild UK National Competition took place at Coleg Menai, Bangor, North Wales 8-10 September.
Skillbuild NI Competitors won a record number of medals bringing back nine medals to Northern Ireland - 2 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze
This included competitors winning bronze, silver and gold in Carpentry!
Nov 2010 - John Hayes, Minister for Further Education, Skills & Lifelong Learning announced the following had been selected for a place at WorldSkills 2011 (5-8 Oct 2011): Wayne Cully, Carpentry from Southern Regional College (who won Silver) and Luke Hawthorne, also Carpentry from South East Regional College (who won Gold). Luke and Wayne now have the unique opportunity to embark on an intense, but hugely rewarding training programme, where they will each have a dedicated training manager who will help them prepare for the final selection competitions which will be held in June 2011. The decision will be made then as to who has made the cut to go and compete at WorldSkills level in London 2011!
